![]() ![]() I dropped at one point that I had called the state Quality Assurance Office and left a message. At worst they created an expensive solution in search of a problem (about $700) and then acted like everything was totally above board. At the VERY least they were shitty in communicating what the issue(s) we’re to someone who isn’t very car savvy. Long story made short I doubt there’s much recourse. We went back and forth for a while about how they didn’t list any of the issues or give any measurements prior to insisting they needed to changed. That didn’t really track since they told me earlier that they were already in the dumpster. They told me they have to keep them for 24 hours in case there is a complaint. They would not let me take the pads or the rotors since they said there was a complaint (me being the person lodging the complaint). They showed me what looked like subaru pads, and rotors (which was something they changed without telling my GF - they just talked about pads with her) Update: I arrived and explained that I’d like to see the pads that I had called about. Worth calling the place back and/or state inspection auditor? It’s been years since I changed my own brakes and oil, but I’m not a complete noob. I’m tempted to call them back and ask to pick up the old pads because I’m certain they had plenty of life in them and he ripped her off because she didn’t know any better.įurthermore, “squishy” would be a symptom of a leak in the master hydraulic cylinder/brake line, not old pads. This is a Subaru forester in immaculate shape, brakes were definitely not “squishy” (I drove it the day before) and pads were less than 18 months old. Isn’t the pass/fail metric that a car stops within X feet when brakes are applied? Not how it subjectively “feels”? Tech said her brakes felt “squishy” and he couldn’t pass them until the pads were replaced. She doesn’t know much about cars and I couldn’t be there with her. Girlfriend went to get her state inspection.
